SIRI Internship : Shaping of solid catalysts for biomass conversion processes

In 2017, LGPC hosted for 3 months a Bachelor intern from Ottawa University, Jean-Philippe Dumais. His topic was the coating of metallic foams with TiO2 catalysts for biomass transformation processes.
LGPC developed an expertise in the application of ceramic and metallic foams as supports for solid catalysts. Catalytic foams can be used in batch and continuous reactors and allow faster mass and heat transfers as well as less clogging issues in fixed-bed reactors.
Jean-Philippe prepared and characterized catalytic foams by depositing a solid catalyst on a metallic support. His results are presented on a poster visible here :
